Annapurna Base Camp Short Trek

If you are taking a short trek route to Annapurna base camp, you will start your journey from Pokhara to a scenic drive to Nayapul. Your trek starts as you trek to Jhinu Danda and then to Bamboo. You will go through the Bamboo forest and steep stone trails to reach Deurali. You will then ascend your way towards Machhapuchhre Base Camp and then finally reach Annapurna Base Camp. You will witness the magnificent views of different mountain ranges and descend your way towards Sinuwa. You trek to Nayapul from Sinuwa and finally drive back to Pokhara.

Likewise, if you are trekking through Poon Hill, you will start your journey from Pokhara and go on a short drive to Nayapul. You will then start to trek towards Ghandruk. You will trek uphill through the amazing trails Ulleri to reach Ghorepani. From Ghorepani, you will trek to Poon Hill to enjoy the beautiful sunrise and trek towards Chhomrong. Going through the trails of Himalaya you finally reach Annapurna Base Camp. After enjoying the breathtaking views in base camp you descend your way towards Bamboo and Jhinu Danda. Annapurna Base Camp Trek Short Route – 6 Days

Day 1: From Pokhara scenic drive to Nayapul and trek to Jhinu Danda

This is the first day of your trek. After early morning breakfast at Pokhara, you will start your 2-hour ride in a private vehicle and will head towards Nayapul. You will move to Birethanti village from Nayapul which is the main entry point of the trek.

In Birethanti village you will complete the formalities of showing your permit and TIMS. Walking along with the bank of the Modi river you reach Jhinu Danda.

You can relax in the natural hot spring 20min away from Jhinu Danda. Overnight in Jhinu Danda.

Day 2: Jhinu Danda to Bamboo

After breakfast, you will begin your trek from Jhinu Danda to Bamboo. The trail to Bamboo continues with steep ascents. You will ascend up to the beautiful village of Chomrong as you pass through Chomrong Khola. This village lies in the lap of Giant Annapurna Massif.

You will then descend through a stone staircase and cross the Chomrong Khola to climb up to the beautiful village of Sinuwa.

You will enter the Modi Khola valley with an easy walk through the dense forest of Oak and Rhododendron. Your walk gently ascends towards Kalgidhar and then descends toward another fine village of Bamboo after the walk of 5 to 6 hours. Overnight in Bamboo.

Day 3: Bamboo to Deurali

On this day you will start your trek from Bamboo to Deurali. You will pass through the long steep stone staircase and bamboo forest which is damp and cool forest. You will reach Dovan and continue your trek which will pass through the Rhododendron forest to reach Hotel Himalaya. You will go through the dry forest before you reach the Hinku cave. Further, your trial takes descend closer to the river and climb towards Duerali. After walking for 5 to 6 hours you will reach Deurali. Overnight at Deurali.

Day 4: Trek from Deurali via Machhapuchhre Base Camp to Annapurna Base Camp

This is the most exciting day of your trek. Your walk ascends through Bagar as you ascend your way. You continue to walk further you will witness the magnificent view of Himalayas very close. Your trail then turns left to Machapuchare Base Camp located at 3700m.

And after walking for 6 to 7 hours you will reach Annapurna Base Camp.

Day 5: Annapurna Base Camp to Sinuwa Danda

On this day you will enjoy the incredible sunrise on Annapurna Base Camp and descend towards Sinuwa. You will go through the beautiful Modi Gorge surrounded by beautiful nature. You will reach the village of Sinwa enjoying the Modi river valleys and snow-capped mountain views. Overnight at Sinuwa.

Day 6: Sinuwa Danda to Nayapul to Pokhara

Early in the morning, your trek starts from the Sinwa village as you follow the beautiful landscape and ends at a Nayapul.

Your trial follows the beautiful rhododendron forest and beautiful traditional villages until you reach the Nayapul.

Once you reach the Nayapul, take a short and scenic drive back to Pokhara via Nayapul.

Annapurna Base Camp Trek via Poon Hill Route – 9 days

Poon Hill Trek 4 Days

Day 1: Drive to Pokhara to Nayapul and trek to Ghandruk

This is the first day of your trek. After early morning breakfast at Pokhara, you will start your 2-hour ride in a private vehicle and will head towards Nayapul. From Nayapul, You will trek for 4 to 5 hours to reach Tikhedhunga. During this trek, you will gain an altitude of around 500 meters. You will also pass Birethanti village along the way. Overnight in Ghandruk.

Day 2: Trek from Ghandruk to Ghorepani (2880 m)

Early in the morning, you will start your trek from Ghandruk towards Ghorepani. It will take about 6-7 hours, for you to reach Ghorepani(2860 meters). You will trek along an uphill to Ulleri. You will go on an exclusively uphill walk up to Ulleri. You will walk around 4 hours from Ulleri to get to Ghorepani. Ghorepani is set beautifully amidst the mountains of the Annapurna region. Overnight in Ghorepani.

Day 3: Hike to Poonhill and trek to Ghandruk (1950 m)

Today, you will wake up early in the morning to head out to Poon Hill before the sun is up. You will trek around for 1 hour from Ghorepani to you reach Poon Hill(3210 meters). The trail to Poon Hill is slippery and full of stairs. After you reach there, you will get to see glorious views of mountains like Annapurna, Dhaulagiri, Manaslu, Machhapuchhre, etc. You will also get to see some staggering sunrise views from there.

After that, you will descend to your teahouse in Ghorepani for having breakfast. Then, you will trek to another picturesque village Tadapani. You will walk about 4-5 hours to reach Tadapani. This makes today’s trek of 6-7 hours long. You will pass some uphills and downhills along the way. You will also pass the rhododendron forests along the way and explore some beautiful flora and fauna of the Annapurna region.

Day 4: Trek to Chhomrong (2170 m)

The beginning of the trek from Tadapani is a gradual downhill. You will walk through a pristine forest of oaks and rhododendron with occasional views of the Annapurna range. This part of the walk is very pleasant until you reach Kimrong Khola, where you will have lunch. Once you reach the top of the ridge the walk is fairly easy all the way to the village of Chomrong (2170 meters). Chomrong is the gateway to the Annapurna Sanctuary. You will trek from Tadapani to Chomrong for 5-6 hours. Overnight in Chhomrong.

Day 5: Trek to Himalaya (2920 m)

On this day you descend through thousands of steps down to the Chomrong Khola. You will cross a suspension bridge and trek to Khuldighar located at 2,380 m. You will encounter a clearing in a forest in the ACAP region after trekking from Chhomrong.

From here, the trail descends quite steeply onto a rock bank. The trail then becomes a level field as you cross a series of bamboo forests to the right of the river. After trekking for a few hours along with the bamboo and rhododendron forests, you will reach the Himalaya, which lies at an altitude of 2920 meters. You will trek from Chhomrong to Himalaya for 6-7 hours. Overnight in Himalaya.

Day 6: Trek from Himalaya to Annapurna Base Camp via Machhapuchhre Base Camp (3700 m)

This is the most difficult day of your trek. Your walk ascends through Bagar to Avalanche.

You will witness the magnificent view of Himalayas very close as you continue to walk further. Your trail then turns left to Machapuchare Base Camp.

And after walking for 6 to 7 hours you will reach Annapurna Base Camp located at 4130m.

Day 7: Trek to Bamboo from Annapurna Base Camp (2310 m)

After enjoying the beauty of the mountains and witness the beautiful sunrise from Annapurna Base Camp in the morning. You will descend your way back to Bamboo. Today’s trek is mostly downhill. So, today’s trek is quite easy. In addition, you will still be able to catch glimpses of some extraordinary landscape by your side. You will reach Bamboo (2310 meters) after trekking for 7-8 hours. You will stay overnight in Bamboo.

Day 8: Trek to Jhinu Danda (1780 m)

Early in the morning, you will trek uphill until you get to Kuldighar. From there you will trek downhill to Chhomrong Khola. Then, you will trek for about an hour through stone steps before reaching Chhomrong. You will trek for 5-6 hours from base camp before you reach Jhinu Danda (1780 meters). You can enjoy a shower in hot springs in Jhinu Danda. You will have to trek half an hour downhill from Jhinu Danda to reach the natural hot springs. Overnight in Jhinu Danda.

Day 9: Trek from Jhinu Danda to Nayapul and then drive to Pokhara

On your way to Nayapul from Jhinu Danda, we get to enjoy the amazing hilly landscape of the ACAP region. You will hike for 4-5 hours along the side of Modi Khola before reaching Birethanti. This will be one of the most pleasant walks of the trip. This day’s trek will be mostly flat. You will reach Nayapul after trekking for an hour from Birethanti. You will take a scenic drive from Nayapul to Pokhara, where you will stay overnight.

Autumn is the best season to do treks to Annapurna Base Camp. Everything about this season is perfect for trekking.

The months of September, October and November are the local autumn season of Nepal. The clear weather makes for amazing visibility. You can see the lush forest, flowers, and wildlife during this time of the trek. It is a relaxing sight to behold on your treks.

You will also get to enjoy amazing sunrises and sunsets early morning from your tea houses during the trek.

Spring i.e March to May is the second-best season to trek in the Annapurna region. The winter ends around mid-February. The days start to get warmer. The climate, weather, and the temperature during spring are just perfect for trekking in this region. You can enjoy the lush green surrounding forests of bamboo, pine on the trails.

During the spring, you can see the beautiful, snow-capped mountains. The bright and dry days and nights are great for visibility. You can also enjoy incredible views of the surrounding landscapes, villages, rivers, and gorges.

Summer starts from June to August in Nepal. The areas in and around Annapurna Base Camp are partially affected by this season.

The Annapurna Region lies in the rain-shadow area of the very mountain. This is a major reason why the monsoon does not affect largely in this region.

Most of the tea houses, cafes remain open during this season.

A great thing about the monsoons in Nepal is the timing. It mostly occurs during the late afternoons, evenings and nights. The mornings to mid-day is sunny and dry. The Annapurna Base Camp Trek routes are not crowded by trekkers and travelers during this season.

From December to February, Nepal enjoys winter. Due to the difference in altitude and landscapes, the temperature varies greatly. It gets colder on the trails leading to Annapurna Base Camp. The mornings and evenings are especially chilly. The temperatures drop to negative degrees Celsius during these times. The Annapurna region wears a deserted snowy look in winter. Most of the locals migrate to the lower regions for the season.
