Manaslu Tsum Valley Trekking is a journey around Manaslu combined with the exploration of the mystical Tsum Valley. Manaslu is a beauty beyond description. Also a pilgrimage site, Tsum Valley adds the charm with its traditional Buddhist cum Tibetan culture and lifestyle untouched with modernity. Manaslu, located east of the Annapurna range is the worlds eight highest peak and was opened to foreigners since 1992. The rigorous trek ascends through Budi Gandaki River offering numerous rivers and waterfalls to Larkya La Pass (5213 m), the highest point in the trek, providing striking views of Himalchuli, Manaslu (8156 m), Ganesh Himal and other various mountains.
We drive to Arughat from Kathmandu where the trek commences. Passing through terraced fields and small villages, we walk past Budhi Gandaki reaching the village of Lapubesi. The walk to Tatopani crosses forests and small villages, bestows a hot spring bath to relax in the evening. Views of Sringi Himal accompanies us on the way to Philim. Passing Chumling and we reach Chhokangparo in the Upper Tsum Valley with towering views of Ganesh Himal, Boudha Himal and Himal Chuli. En route to Nile/Chhule, we pass through Piren Phu (pigeon cave), a sacred location which preserved Buddhist murals, scripts and carved stones where we stop for exploration. Our next stop is the Mu Gompa at 3700m from where we move to Rachen Gompa, a nunnery. The walk to Gumba Lungdang passes through pine and rhododendron forests and crosses the Siyar Khola. We rest here and take a trip to the Ganesh Himal Base Camp. The route to Lokpa, our next stop has no proper lodging or facilities, so we start early. From Lokpa to Ghap to Lho, we pass Gurung and Thakali villages. At Samagaon, we take a rest for another day and explore the village. We gradually gain altitude from here to Samdo, Dharmasala and cross the Larke La pass at 5200m to reach Bhimtang which marks the end of the trek.
A short climb leads us to the north side of Larkya Glacier. The place provides great views of Cho Danda and Larkya Peak. The climb to the Larkya La (5100m) pass is gradual in the beginning but steepens towards the end. Stunning panorama of different ranges can be seen from the pass. A challenging day over the high Larkya La. The steep decent from here is strenuous, but its great achievement of this trek. After crossing the majestic pass, we will head to Bhimtang located at an altitude of 3720 meters. On this day we will walk a total of 6-7 hours.
After enjoying the splendid views of the mountains from a ridge in Bhimtang, we make our way down towards a high pasture and then a bridge over Dudh Khola. We walk through rhododendron forests, narrow valleys and fields before making a climb to the river bank that leads to the village of Gho. A short walk takes us to Tilije where we will spend this night.
We move in a stone paved path passing through a beautiful village and then cross a bridge over Dudh Khola, move past an arch and Mani walls to get to the Thonje village. After passing through a police checkpoint we make our way towards Dharapani from where we enter the Annapurna circuit section. From Dharapani we take Jeep or bus from Dharapani to Beishar, which takes 4-5 hours. We spend a our last night of the trek at Besishar.
We drive along the banks of Marsyangdi and Trishuli River, witnessing the beautiful scenery of rice fields, terraced farms, rivers and valleys and refreshing views of the hilly areas and mountains. After aprox. Ride of 5 to 6 hours journey ,we reach Kathmandu
