Detailed Itinerary of Annapurna Base Camp Trek 10 Days

Kathmandu to Pokhara

You will catch an early morning bus or flight to Pokhara on this day. You will reach Pokhara within 5 to 7 hours by bus, and 30 minutes by flight.

Pokhara is a beautiful lake city and the most famous tourist destination in Nepal. Here, you will be able to enjoy the beautiful Fewa Lake and the buzzing lakeside pubs. You shall stay overnight in a three-star hotel in Lakeside, Pokhara.

Day 1: Pokhara – Nayapul – Tikhedhunga

Altitude: 1540 meters

Duration of the trek: 4 hours

You shall catch an early hour bus to Nayapul, where you will reach within an hour. From Nayapul, you will trek for around four hours to reach Tikhedhunga.

You will pass through some inclined ways, well-defined paths, and trails on the riverbank as you proceed towards Tikhedhunga.

You will be able to witness the towering snow-capped Annapurna range from here. You will have completed the elevation of 1540 m by here. You will stay overnight in a basic teahouse here.

Day 2: Tikhedhunga – Ghorepani

Altitude: 2810 meters

Duration of the trek: 6 to 7 hours

Today, you will start your trek soon after breakfast and head toward Ghorepani. The trek can be moderate to difficult.

You will be able to witness the majestic Machhapuchhre (Fishtail Mountain), Gandharba Chuli and Annapurna II and III. You will have reached an elevation of 2810 meters by now. You will stay overnight at a basic teahouse here.

  • Conquering the 3300 steps to Ulleri to enjoy magnificent views.
  • Rhododendron and oak forests, langur monkeys and musk deer.

Day 3: Ghorepani – Poonhill – Tadhapani

Altitude: 3210 meters at Poonhill, 2700 meters at Tadhapani

Duration of the trek: 6 hours

You will have your breakfast at the same teahouse you stayed in, and start your trek. The difficulty level can be from moderate to difficult.

You will reach an elevation of 3210 m at Poonhill and 2700 m at Tadhapani. You will cross the steep hilly terrains and jungle paths. You will be able to witness the panoramic views of Annapurna and Dhaulagiri ranges on your way to Tadhapani.

You will spend your night at a basic tea house.

Day 4: Tadhapani – Chomrong

Altitude: 2170 meters

Duration of the trek: 5 hours

Soon after breakfast, you will head towards Chomrong. It demands a moderate level of difficulty to reach the destination.

You are able to witness the beautiful views of the Fishtail Mountain and Annapurna South. You will have to walk through steep descending trails and forest trails.

You will spend a night here at a basic teahouse.

Day 5: Chomrong- Dovan

Day 6: Dovan – Machhapuchhre Base Camp (MBC)

Altitude: 3700 meters

You will start your journey to the MBC from Dovan, early morning after breakfast. You will cross some gentle descents, steep ascents, steep stones, and rocky paths.

You will spend the night at MBC in a basic tea house.

Day 7: MBC – Annapurna Base Camp (ABC)

Altitude: 4110 meters

Duration of the trek: 2.5 hours

Today’s journey will be quite difficult. It can be quite strenuous too. You will be ascending towards your destination soon after breakfast. Even though you will walk for only a couple of hours, it can be quite challenging because of the altitude.

You will reach the Annapurna Base Camp in around 2 hours from MBC. You will have to walk through the steep inclines and rocky tracks. There can be snow too, depending upon the time of the year.

Once you reach the Base Camp, you will forget all the challenges that you had when you witness the most beautiful snow-capped mountains. The feeling of accomplishment when you reach the destination is amazing.

You will spend a night here at a basic teahouse.

Day 8: ABC – Bamboo

Altitude: 2340 meters

Duration of the trek: 6.5 hours

You will now be returning from the Annapurna Base Camp, and thus descending towards Bamboo. You will have to walk through steep descents, rocky trails, forests and riverbank trails.

The difficulty level for this hike can be moderate. You will be able to witness the beautiful Annapurna range in this hike. You will spend the night at a basic teahouse at Bamboo.

  • Watching the sunrise bathe the Annapurna sanctuary before we begin our descent.
  • The Annapurna glacier and the Modi Khola river as we descend.

Day 9: Bamboo – Jhinu

Altitude: 1780 meters

Duration of the trek: 5.5 hours

Today, we will move from Bamboo to Jhinu, walking for around 5.5 hours. The hike can vary from easy to difficult grade. Today, we will walk through hilly ascent to Sinuwa passing through some well-defined tracks with descents to Jhinu.

The basic view that you will get during this hike is of the snow-capped mountains from a distance and the wonderful river valley. We shall spend a night here at a basic tea house.

Day 10: Jhinu – Nayapul – Pokhara

Altitude: 1070 meters at Nayapul, 850 meters at Pokhara

Duration of the trek: 7.5 hours (including 1.5 hours ride to Pokhara)

Soon after breakfast, you shall trek from Jhinu to Naya Pul. The hike today can vary from easy to moderate.

Today’s hike will be mostly through gentle descents and riverbank trails. You will get to see the snow capped mountains from a distance. It means that you have accomplished your trek!

You will then ride back to Pokhara and stay a night at a three-star hotel.

Packing for Annapurna Base Camp Trek 10 Days
