Everest Base Camp Trek from Jiri is one of the oldest and traditional trekking routes to Everest region. This is the same route used by the Tenzing Norgay Sherpa from Nepal and Sir Edmund Hillary from New Zealand. They were the first successful climbers to summit the majestic Mount Everest. The 18-day trekking starts from your arrival to the capital, Kathmandu. Here you can visit many UNESCO World Heritage Sites. The journey begins after a long drive from Kathmandu to Salleri. On the way, you will find different landscape and traditional villages. The trekking then begins from Salleri. From here you will ascend and descend different altitudes. Also, you will pass through beautiful forests and rocky steps along with famous Buddhist monasteries, deep gorges, colorful prayer flags, rapid whitewater rivers, waterfalls, traditional suspension bridges and breathtaking mountain ranges. You name it. You will witness rich Sherpa and Tibetan style villages, rest at the tea houses. If you get lucky you will often encounter the glimpse of mountain animals and birds.
The journey will further lead to the gateway of Mount Everest, Namche Bazaar here you will stay for acclimatization. Also, you will experience the tradition and cultures of the Sherpas, up-close. The highest point of the Everest base camp trek from Jiri is Kalapathar which lies at an amazing altitude of 5,545m/18,192 ft. and Everest Base Camp of 5,364 m/17,594 ft. Your first day starts at the airport where our representative will pick you from the airport and take you to your hotel. Depending on your flight time, you can spend the afternoon and relax in your hotel or have dinner in your hotel where you can get your mindset ready for the trekking the following day.

After breakfast, you will be taken to a long drive of around 7-8 hours to Salleri. The drive will take you through the Madhya-Pahadi Highway and across the Sun Koshi River where you will pass through the beautiful view of riversides, jungles, traditional villages and glimpses of the mountain range. After reaching a place called Okhaldhunga, you will notice the climate change as it will a bit cold. As you get closer to the mountain, the beautiful view of Numpur Himal and Everest will most likely take your breath away. The drive will end once you reach to Salleri where you will stay overnight.

Walking hour: 6-7 hours
You can consider as the first day of your trekking, as after your breakfast, you will be walking and ascending from Salleri through Ringmo village and descend to Nunthala. You will encounter the Tibetan culture in the settlements and housings on the way. You will have to ascend around 600 m on this day and then descend around 800 m towards Nunthala which will be anywhere around 6 to 7 hours trekking.

After breakfast, the trekking starts with a descend till you cross a bridge over the Dudh Koshi river. Then, you will start to ascend for over an hour. Allow yourself to be mesmerized by the view and the surrounding as you pass through the beautiful Khari Khola village. Till you reach Buspa, you will walk through beautiful rhododendron forests. We will rest for the night at Bupsa.

The trekking starts as usual after breakfast. Today you will climb a series of ridges. After crossing of the ridges, you will come across a beautiful deep gorge which has a captivating view of a waterfall. You will then pass through a beautiful small village with barley fields, wheat and other green vegetable farms and Tibetan cultural houses and a Buddhist monastery. Finally, you will then ascend to Chaurikharka where you will stay overnight.

As the day begins we will get ready for our trek. After a short distance, you will come across the Chheplung Khola, a small stream over a small bridge. Then we will trek along the Dudh Koshi River. You can enjoy the local culture and the ethnicity as we pass through beautiful Sherpa villages, Buddhist monasteries, and beautiful forests of rhododendron and magnolia. After 4 to 5 hours of walking we will reach Monjo, here we will stay overnight.

After breakfast at Monjo, the trekking starts and you will enter a new terrain and furthermore to the Sagarmatha National Park. This region is known as Khumbu region. We will continue to walk alongside the Dudh Koshi River. The Sagarmatha National Park has a wide range of spectacular views of the mountains and Sherpa villages. After reaching Namche Bazaar, you will find a lot of traditional Sherpa villages, government offices, internet cafes, small shops, restaurants, and markets at Khumbu region which makes it one of the busiest villages in the region. Quite different from the wilderness, you feel the difference in the experience here, at the Bazaar.

This is the day where you will have to rest for a day so that you can acclimatize and adjust with the high altitude so it will be easier for you on the further trekking at higher altitudes. You can rest and explore the amazing and beautiful village of Namche Bazaar. You can also enjoy facilities and services like ATMs and banking, internet, bakery and do shopping in the beautiful and colorful market.
If you wish to stay more active, you can hike around Syangboche where you can view the majestic Mount Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, Ama Dablam, Thamserku, Kongde and other more mountains. The trail descends half an hour to the village of Sherpas called Khumjung village. You can visit Kumjung Hillary School, Kumjung Gompa and enjoy the flora and fauna around the region of Namche Bazaar. We will stay here for the night and prepare ourselves for the hike the next day.
Altitude: Tengboche 3,870 m/12,694 ft

After proper acclimatization, you will now be descending to the Dudh Koshi River and the then ascending along the rhododendron forests to Tengboche today. You will be able to view the majestic mountain range of Mount Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, Ama Dablam, Thamserku, Kongde and much more on this day. If you are lucky enough, you can also get a glimpse of the national bird Pheasant and exotic and endangered mountain animals.
After you reach the Tengboche, you will notice a large monastery, the Tengboche Monastery. It is the largest monastery in the region. It opens at 4 in the evening, so if you are there during the hour, you will be able to witness the art and iconography of the monastery. In the evening, the amazing sunset on the top of the word and other high mountains will take away your strenuous pain away. We will stay at Tengboche.

Distance: 9 km
Walking hour: 5-6 hours
After breakfast, we will descend and trek through Deboche. You will be trekking around rhododendron, conifers and birch forests today. After Deboche, you will cross Imja River and you will be able to view the spectacular view of the Ama Dablam. We will then gradually ascend up to Pangboche. The ascending trail after Pangoche leads to the pristine view of the Himalayas and the Pangboche Monastery.
You will then pass through the Imja Valley, Lobuche River and finally reach towards today's destination, Dingboche. The amazing fields of barley, buckwheat and potatoes can be seen which is protected by stone walls. We will acclimatize here too.

This is the second rest day of the trek at one of the most popular stops for trekkers who comes to trek and summit around Mount Everest, Ama Dablam, and Imja Tse. After breakfast, you can hike around Chhukung village which is surrounded by beautiful high mountains and Glacier Lakes. The stone-wall enclosed fields of barley, buckwheat, and potato is one of the most spectacular views in the village.
You can hike to Nagarjun Hill instead of Chukkhung village as well. You will be able to view beautiful mountain ranges such as Makalu, Island Peak, Amphulapche, Lhotse, Chalotse, Tawache and Ama Dablam from here. A day well spent at Dingboche will certainly help you to get the acclimatization so that you won't get any kind of Mountain Altitude sickness.
Altitude: Lobuche 4,940 m/16,207 ft
Distance: 7 km
Walking hours: 5-6 hours
The rest day then leads to another ascend towards Lobuche. You will have to gradually ascend from this point and soon after a short climb, you will be able to view the panoramic view of Khumbu mountain range. We will then reach Duglha at the end of the terminal moraine of the Khumbu Glacier. After a short rest here we will head up a steep trail to Chupki Lhara, here we will find an array of stones with prayer flags used as memorials to different Everest climbers who lost their lives while climbing Mount Everest. It is a spectacular and heartwarming site. You will then continue towards the Khumbu Glacier moraine and appreciate peaks like Khumbutse, Lingtren, Pumori and Mahalangur Himal. The trek for the day ends as you reach Lobuche where you will sleep overnight.
Altitude: Gorak Shep 5,170 m/16,961 ft and EBC 5,364 m/17,594 ft
Distance: 13 km
Walking hours: 6-7 hours
After breakfast at Lobuche you will be trekking for around three hours till you reach the Gorak Shep Lake. Since today you will reach the maximum altitude of the trek, it is advised that you trek a bit slower. After your reaching the Gorak Shep lake, you will be continuing straight ahead towards the Indian army mountaineers' memorials. Be sure to stick with the group and follow your guide.After the strenuous journey through rocky dunes, moraine and streams, you will finally reach the Everest Base Camp.
After you reach the Everest Base Camp, you might see an up-close view of the majestic mountains like never before. You will be able to get the picturesque view of greatest mountains such as Nuptse, Khumbuste, and Pumori from the base camp. We cannot stay in the EBC as there are no tea houses or lodges there. Only mountaineers and expedition groups stay there in their tents. So we will go back to Gorak Shep for the night.
Altitude: Kala Patthar 5,545 m/18,192 ft and Phireche 4,288 m/14,070 ft

After the high altitude trek the day before, it's time prepare for an early morning trekking towards Kala Patthar, the highest altitude height of this trek. The temperature will be a bit low at this altitude. Kala Patthar is well-known for a 360-degree view of majestic Mount Everest. Along the way, you will be able to view spectacular vista of Lingtren, Khumbutse and Changtse tower peaks to the east and then appears the Mount Everest. After reaching Kala Patthar, you can take pictures and enjoy the magnificent mountain 360-degree panorama view. After the breath-taking view and experience, we will have to return back to Pheriche where we will rest and stay overnight.

Walking hours: 6-7 hours
After breakfast from Pheriche, you will descend towards Namche Bazaar on this day. We will pass through a hill full of rhododendron and juniper trees. During the season, the view is spectacular. The journey takes you to Dud Koshi River where you will once again find the prayer-flag festooned bridge. Here you will pass the beautiful Dudh Koshi gorge. The pine forest region begins from here, it is a great location to spot exotic and endangered wildlife. After the forest, you will then reach Sansa, here you can again enjoy views of Ama Dablam, Thamserku, and Nuptse mountain ranges. After a winding trail through the forest, we will reach the Namche Bazaar where we will stay overnight.

Distance: 19 km
Walking hours: 6-7 hours
After breakfast at Namche Bazaar, you will again descend steeply towards Lukla. The steep trail can be hard for people who have knee problems so it is advisable to descend slowly resting and caring your knees. The rocky steep downhill is quite challenging but after you cross the suspension bridge of Dudh Koshi, the trail becomes somewhat leveled. After reaching Lukla, you can rest and enjoy reminiscing the enthralling trek you had. As this is the last day in Everest region. You will stay overnight here and get ready for the flight back to Kathmandu, next day.
Flight time : 35 minutes
The mornings are beautiful in Lukla and the weather is perfect for the flight to get the beautiful view of the mountain ranges. So you will be catching an early-morning flight from Lukla to Kathmandu. After reaching to Kathmandu, you will be transferred to your hotel from the airport. You can either rest the whole day or go shopping for souvenirs. If you want to take a tour around Kathmandu valley, we can arrange it with a qualified tour guide. You can then have a good and luxurious night sleep after dinner.
Please note that the weather changes very drastically at Lukla and the surrounding regions. This is why the Kathmandu-Lukla-Kathmandu flight may get delayed by a few hours or sometimes even be canceled for one or two days, or more depending upon the weather conditions. Please be sure to plan your trip with 2-3 days of added time.
The Everest Base Camp trek from Jiri hence ends on this day. This is the day where you can decide either to end your adventurous journey in Nepal and head towards the airport and back home or travel and trek different areas of Nepal. If you wish to go to the airport, a representative will help you to the airport where you have to reach 2 to 3 hours before your scheduled flight.
