Accommodations at Lukla (2860 meters)

Trek to Everest Base Camp starts with an easy flight to Tenzing Hillary Airport- Lukla. It takes about 35 minutes from Tribhuvan International Airport- Kathmandu to Lukla.

Accommodations at Namche Bazar (3440 meters)

It is a main stop on the trail up to Everest Base Camp Trek. This is also the best place for acclimatization. Many trekkers spend some days to get adjusted to the altitude.

The town has many lodgings and stores catering to the needs of visitors as well as some internet cafes. Namche Bazaar has wide varieties of tea houses from luxury to basic with a broad range of prices. One of the best hotels i.e. “Everest View Hotel” is also located here. It has an altitude of 3,880 meters, which offers a panoramic view of Everest.

Accommodation at Tengboche (3860 meters)

Tengboche is one of the popular trekking spots during Everest Base Camp trekking. It is famous because of Tengboche Monastery which is at an altitude of 3,876m above sea level. It is the largest monastery in Khumbu Region.

From here onwards, there will be more basic tea houses with basic facilities. But few tea houses do provide you with a room that has attach bathrooms and hot shower.

Many people prefer to spend a night in here to attend morning prayers at the monastery. This place might get crowded during peak seasons.

Accommodation at Dingboche (4410 meters)

Dingboche is the highest residential settlement in the Khumbu Region. This place has enough tea houses and shops. Rooms in Dingboche usually include single sized beds with sheets, pillows, and blankets. This place is larger than Tengboche. From Dingboche the altitude extremely increases. So you have to take acclimatization day to prevent altitude sickness.

Accommodation at Lobuche (4940 meters)

Lobuche is the last overnight stops on the trail to the base camp. There are many hotels in the village but the accommodation here is quite basic. You will get a small room, squat toilet, and a typical Nepali food.

During peak trekking seasons, it may be difficult to find lodges. In this case, you may have to share the rooms with other trekkers too..

Accommodations at Gorak Shep (5,164 meters)

Gorak Shep has four hotels before heading to Everest Base Camp. It is pretty average as trekking lodges provide basic accommodations. You may have to share your room as it may get crowded in peak seasons. This is the main point from where you will climb to Kala Patthar.

Price of tea houses in EBC trek?

The accommodation price of tea houses depends on the altitude and time of a year you visit. The more you climb, the more you should pay as there is no road for transportation. All basic things like food and miscellaneous are either carried by humans or animals.

When you are trekking to EBC during peak seasons (Spring and Autumn), you need to pay a higher rate than the off-season months. But during the off-season, this rate can drop up to 50% of what the peak rates are.

Some teahouses may let you sleep for free in one condition i.e. if you eat on that particular tea house.
